While searching for mini-me kids collections, I came across the most adorable dog outfits by Ralph Lauren. I know, doggie fashion is a bit off my kids’ magazine theme, but they’re so cute I had to share them with you.
There’s actually a story behind these posh pooch outfits. Last Sunday, at the gorgeous Ralph Lauren flagship store on 888 Madison Ave in New York City, Ralph Lauren partnered with the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) to host The Dog Walk Event in honor of National Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month. A fashion first, rescue dogs took to the runway to present Ralph Lauren’s Fall 2013 Accessories Collection including shoes, belts, scarfs, sunglasses, handbags and of course dog totes. And yes, these posh pooches modeled pieces from the Ralph Lauren Dog collection!
I just read the great news…according to the article in today’s RL Magazine, “Every shelter pooch in Ralph Lauren’s Dog Walk found a home and has since adapted nicely to family life.”
“Dogs have always been part of the DNA of our company. Since we first started running ads, you would see full-page ads that just show dogs. We wanted to find a creative way to bring our love of dogs to the Internet age, and we had this second mission, to highlight our accessories collection,” David Lauren, executive vice president of advertising, marketing, and corporate communications explained in his interview with Women’s Wear Daily.

All of the dog items are on sale at the RalphLauren.com online store. Plus, in honor of National Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month, from now until November 15, 2013, 10% of the purchase price of select accessories and dog apparel featured in the film will be donated to the ASPCA.
