Fairy Tales Inspire Celebrity Tot Fashion
by Lisa Freeman, My Baby Clothes Boutique - August 2, 2010

Fairy Tales have always played a prominent role in children's play costumes, but these days we are seeing every day fashion take a hint from the stories of our childrenís imaginations. Toddler clothing manufacturers are giving a fashion nod to dresses that are fit for your Snow White a la Suri Cruise; or Gwen Stefaniís little Kingston in a rock-n-roll inspired pirate outfit with a bold red striped shirt coupled with slim, black pants and a bandana on his head. Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is another frequent pixie pirate.

Weíre not talking gaudy story book gear here that makes your kid look like sheís in a Halloween get-up. We mean quality duds with just a flair for fairy tale and not something overt. Take a tip from Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carterís tyke Billy Ray, who recently sported a fabulous English military jacket complete with gold trim and coupled with jeans and a t-shirt. Super cute without being costumey. Read More

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Dresses Like a Boy, and That’s OK!
by Summer Minor, My Baby Clothes Boutique - July 25, 2010

Shiloh Jolie Pitt, daughter of the famous Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has made headlines by her lack of frilly dresses and short hair cut. Fans and critics alike are shocked that a celebrity daughter has been seen sporting anything less than ruffled dresses and kitten heel shoes. Child care experts, however, say she’s just a normal child.

When we imagine celebrity girls, pictures of the elegantly dressed Suri Cruise or the fashionable Nahla  Berry come to mind first. So when Shiloh Jolie Pitts enters the scene, in a casual pair of toddler jeans, newsboy cap, and button down shirt, we take notice. Especially with her short cropped hair cut and insistence on being one of the boys. Read More

The Magic of The Tutu
by Shannon Henrici, My Baby Clothes Boutique - April 21, 2010

The tutu has been said to have been the greatest costume invention of all time. It has withstood the test of time and even found its way into today’s fashion. I ask myself, what is it about a tutu that has done what other fashion styles have failed to do.

The path of the tutu into “everyday glam” has been very interesting. The invention in 1832 was to emphasize the movements of the ballerina’s body. After much influence from Romantic and Classical ballets three types evolved from the original - Romantic, Classical And Bell.

The Romantic style, the first one, appeared in the ballet La Syphide on Marie Taglioni in Paris. These tutus were long, floating and cut above the ankle to show the legwork. It still shows up in some of today’s romantic ballets, because of its ability to enhance the flowing, beauty and grace of the ballerina...Read More

Suri Cruise: The Stylish Closet of a Hollywood Toddler
by Scarlett Jewel My Baby Clothes Boutique - October 26, 2009

On April 18, 2006, little Suri Cruise made her stylish debut to parents Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise. Unbeknownst to her, the world had been anxiously awaiting her arrival too. While most girls are considered a little princess to their parents, Suri was born into Hollywood royalty. In the beginning, people were naturally curious to know what the little girl looked like, and if the little darling resembled her celebrity parents. After she landed her first magazine cover with Vanity Fair, the attention shifted from Suri’s confirmed cuteness to her chic clothes. Although she’s never actually walked the red carpet, everyone began to ask: What is she wearing?

So what does Suri Cruise wear? The too-cute toddler closet is filled with so many designer duds; it would make even the most well-mannered grown woman throw a jealous fit. Ms. Cruise has been seen wearing the trendiest of labels, including Marc Jacobs, Dolce Gabbana Junior, Burberry, Ralph Lauren Children, Kid by Phillip Lim, Juicy Couture, il Gufo, Bonpoint, and custom-made Roger Vivier flats (just to name a fabulous few). When it comes to Suri Cruise’s wardrobe, money is no object......Read More

by Bizymoms - June 24, 2009

Environmentally conscious businesses have earned a niche market space for themselves in our society. More and more people are becoming environment conscious and prefer to do their bit towards saving the environment. At the same time, any products that are environmental-friendly are also generally safe and healthy for the users.

Owing to these reasons, organic clothing for children has become a unique business that is steadily gaining in popularity. Recently my son's little four-year-old girl friend arrived at our house wearing a very hip and stylish Hannah Montana ensemble. I, of course, have a boy, and have not been privy to the Hannah craze. I was surprised that this little tyke was completely informed and up to speed on all things in Montanaville. When I spoke to another friend who has six-year-old twin girls, he said that they know everything there is to know about the show, and dressing like the lead character, well, duh... of course they do......Read More

Runway to Playground
by Emili Vesilind, Los Angeles Times - July 22, 2008

WHEN Samantha Meiler shops for her son, she has a very specific look in mind: designer jeans, velour track suits, L.A.M.B. sneakers, a sporty-urban vibe.

“My son’s style is very Kingston,” she says, referring to Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s boy. “I make no qualms about it. I see pictures of Kingston and I say, ‘I want that outfit for my son.’”

Of course, lil’ Rossdale is still a toddler, and Meiler’s son is just 21 months old. But they’re part of a growing set of pint-sized fashion plates, wearing shrunken-down versions of trendy adult clothes.

In the last few years, the obsession with dressing little kids like Dogtown skaters, Malibu moms and even Upper East Side socialites has hit a new, Suri-high level.

More clothing companies than ever are producing what the rag trade refers to as mini-me clothes on every price level. Marquee American designers, such as Phillip Lim and Marc Jacobs, are turning out Lilliputian renditions of clothes that sail down the runway each season....Read More

UV Protected Clothing, Myths and Truths about Harmful UV Rays
by JB Sacallis, Agoo Apparel - July 10, 2008

With summer here and the kids outside in full force, the dreaded battle of wearing sun protection arises yet again. I don't know about yours, but my three-and-a-half year old refuses to wear a hat. It's a constant battle that escalates into a full on tug-of-war ever y time we venture outside. I have tried every style of head covering, every color and every option, only to have them lost, left and destroyed at every turn.

Sunscreen is no easier task. In fact, wrestling a monkey covered in cooking oil would be easier than administering the smallest dollop on my son's skin. He seems to love the sun, and thankfully he was born with the kind of skin that can tolerate it, but for my own peace of mind, I am left finding alternate and unique ways to keep him protected and safe outdoors.

This was one of the reasons why I was inspired to create a children's clothing company. At AGOO APPAREL we make stylish, active clothes for kids on the move, using 100% UV protected material. Our garments are all about fashion and function combined. Additionally, they have wick-away fibres that keep sweat away from the skin, eliminating any chills or possible overheating, stain resistance and anti bacterial properties.....Read More

Bigger Kids Want to Dress Cool, Too
by Aili McConnon, BusinessWeek - June 19, 2008

Merrill Guerra of Ypsilanti, Mich., used to despair when buying clothes for her overweight daughter Gabi, now 11. Older children's sizes that fit Gabi's torso would be too long in the pant legs and shirtsleeves, and the styles were often too sexy for a young girl. "When I talked to other girlfriends, I realized I was not alone in my frustrations," Guerra says. So she decided to form RealKidz, a plus-sized clothing company for girls ages 5 to 12. She started selling capris, leggings, and T-shirts online in May and plans to roll out a back-to-school line this August...Read More
