The Aymara story started with Belgian engineer, Sven van Gucht and his Peruvian wife, Yannina Esquivias who was in the travel industry. Together with Yannina’s family, they opened a knitwear workshop in Peru. Ayamara only uses natural materials which are locally manufactured, such as merino wool and baby alpaca for the winter collection. Sven runs the business side while Yannina is in charge of the styling and design, which is done in Belgium.
