Evisu Kids

Evisu Kids, born in Osaka, Japan in 1991 by Hidehiko Yamane as “THE PREMIUM DENIM LINE,” has an exciting offering of athletic and casual shoes. Known for their attention to detail, these shoes have become all the rage.

Evisu, named for the Buddhist god of money, still remains true to its artisan roots with a fanatical devotion to quality and authenticity while maintaining those two other viral ingredients for the Evisu magic potion – humor and irreverence.

Evisu from Japan specializes in producing denim wear through traditional, labor-intensive methods.

The first production line allowed about 14 pairs of jeans a day to be produced, with each of them having a seagull (kamome) hand painted on them by the designer Yamane himself.

The brand name Evisu is based on “Ebisu” which is the name of the Japanese folk god of money who is often portrayed with a fishing rod. The designer Yamane chose the name as money and fishing are two of his favorite things.

Evisu has evolved since its beginnings in the early 90’s when Yamane started with a tailoring line, then with a fishing and golf lines.

By 1999, Yamane started his ladies line – Evisu Donna, and later he followed with Evisu kids.

Evisu now has 65 shops in Japan and distribution channels worldwide.
