Established in 2001, Denmark's Silke & Suus is designed by Susanne Søllund who is educated at the Accademia Moda & Design in Florence in Italy. The Silke & Suus designer children's clothing brand started with a small clothing shop on the island Bornholm, Denmark. The idea behind Slike & Suus was and still is to design and produce children clothes for children and parents who would like an individual look and design with an attitude. Susanne's daughter Silke is another huge inspiration and a tough critic! Susanne explains about her attraction for designing children clothing rather than adult clothing, “because you can be more imaginative and make your fantasy into clothing. The clothes have to be designed on the children terms. It has to be both fun and practical. Therefore the actual fit, comfort and choice of materials are just as important as the unique craft.”
