Motoreta is a gorgeous kid clothing brand located in Seville, Spain, that launched last year at Playtime Paris. Leading the brand are Cristina Lopez-Lago and Maria Llerena, architect partners who were compelled to begin this new creative project in the world of kids fashion.
Following the birth of their children, Cristina began to design and make the first models. “Almost without realizing it, I began to venture into the world of children’s fashion: pattern-making courses, sewing, visiting fairs. Motoreta was gradually taking shape to become a reality,” explained Cristina.
With a motto – “Made in Spain – Made at Home” – Motoreta creates garments and accessories for kids, that are very comfortable, contemporary cutting, high quality and 100% made in Andalusia, Spain.
At Playtime New York I had the pleasure of meeting Maria & Christina, the team behind Motoreta, and learning more about how they started the brand.

“Maria & I have been working together for almost 10 years. As architects, we have always been connected to the world of design. I guess that Motoreta is something that we always had in our mind. And two years ago we started forming the idea of creating a childrenswear brand produced in Spain. We finally launched in July last year at Playtime Paris.
The main thing about our brand is that we produce everything in Spain. We try to think global and produce locally.

Our designs are very simple but we always try to make something a bit sophisticated, to make them different. For example with this collection, everything is in Autumn or Winter colors, but we always try to make one more point. For example a strong colors and special details make each item different and unique.
Motoreta Girls Confetti Dress
One of our favorites pieces in the Autumn / Winter 2014 collection is the Confetti Dress because it mixes Autumn colors with black, and little dots with strong colors in them. Here is an example of the strong details, the lining is made within strong yellow cotton.
Another piece that we like a lot is this white balloon dress that has a very particular shape.

We also love this black & white striped dress. We love the shape but the most important part of the design is the strong color contrast between the black & white. And the shape, we call it an arrow dress. It’s quite simple but is something very different, and a bit sophisticated.”
