One of my favorite new brand discoveries at Pitti Bimbo is San Andrès Milano, designed by Andrèss Caballero a well know women’s fashion designer located in Milan who offers gorgeous colorful women’s dresses featured during Milan Fashion Week. San Andrès Milan is known for its “neo-Retro style inspired by an intellectual and well-read woman who appreciates materials, mixing ladylike with cheekiness”.
My favorite thing to write about is the Mini-Me fashion trend, where adult designers create a miniature version of their runway collection. So it was especially exciting to discover San Andrès Milano’s new mini-me collection while browsing the exhibition. There I had the opportunity to interview Andrèss Caballero and admire his new capsule collection of gorgeous mini-me dresses for girls that share the same brand DNA as the women’s collection.
Andrèss Caballero is a great fan of the designers of the past, with a real soul of Couturier, he loves to design and realize hand-made clothes using a tailored milage technique and traditional artisanal process. Pins, scissors, needle, and thread are everyday tools in his professional life. A traditional tailor coupled together with a modern day fashion designer.
Andrèss is originally from Mexico and followed his dream to be a fashion designer living & working in Milan. In 2006 Andrèss opened his atelier and is recognized among new talents of Italian contemporary designers. The San Andrès Milano brand is known for its craftsmanship character and original cuts, unique style, and exclusivity of the products realized with the Italian fabrics of the highest quality.
What I didn’t know until after the show was that San Andrès Bimbo was part of Kid’s Evolution – a project by Alessandro Enriquez in collaboration with Pitti Immagine aimed at a super-sophisticated audience of buyers, including the world’s most important department stores.
The Pitti Bimbo Kids Evolution showcased a selection of adult fashion designers who created a capsule collection for kids. Products from past Kid Evolution projects have can be found at top international retailers including Luisaviaroma, yoox.com, Harvey Nichols, Coccole, Rinascente Milano.
In addition to San Andrès Bimbi, the following brands participated in Kid Evolution: Francesco Ballestrazzi, Iuri, Kyme Jr, Mitchumm Industries, Nhivuru.
