Shampoodle Spring Summer 2015 Collection

Shampoodle Kids Interview Spring Summer 2015

One of my favorite brands to visit at Playtime Paris is Shampoodle – a fun and comfortable Scandinavian kids clothes, founded by Jakob Wästberg and Helene Stevenberg. Season after season Shampoodle creates what they call – “childishly comfortable clothes” – which basically says it all. During my last visit to Playtime Jakob shared with me their Spring Summer 2015 collection – ‘Instant Vacation’.

“Here we are at Playtime Paris presenting our Spring Summer 2015 collection called Instant Vacation. We’ve got a lot of new prints, interesting tie-dye styles, and of course our Bollywood Pants in new patterns and colors.”

“The overall theme is much more about the colors and the pastels, very Summery and relaxed. This season we have mainly a blue, green, yellow, peach color scheme with some accents. We always have some little black part to prove that we’re a Scandinavian brand.

We worked with a lot of floral prints that are more abstract with sort of a little Indian or Asian jacket which is nice because it’s so thin you can wear it to the beach.”

“This is a collaboration with a Swedish graphic designer called Local Graphics. He’s been doodling these Fantasy Monsters on his own. We started talking and told him it would be so great to have him make them as prints. We have a number of different colors on rompers, t-shirts, and sweatshirts.”

“These Harem pants, we call them Bollywood pants they always go very well because it’s so nice to have on the beach.”

“This is a snakeskin we call them rattle, so we have a little rattle series with a hood, a romper or one-sie, drop shorts, and leggings with a bunch of versions. We had a similar version for Autumn but these are much thinner and lighter material. It’s sort of our take on tie-dye.

We have this cracked earth print which comes from a photograph of dried mud that started cracking. We make almost all of our patterns.”

“I’m also really fond of these t-shirt dresses that go into two fabrics, voile, and jersey that are of course organic cotton. The green one says ‘I Have Amazing Powers’ and the peach one says ‘We come in peace’. Which is what most kids tend to do.”

“One of my favorites is The Ocean T-Shirt which is based on an image that our designer Helena, my wife who found it at the Natural Museum of History. The background is a diorama and this is a stuffed bird from the old Natural Museum of History exhibit in Stockholm.”

Another cool thing about Shampoodle is that all of the main items are available from newborn to adult size XL. So you can dress your entire family in Shampoodle from head to toe!
