2024 — Guess Girls Navy Polka Dot Dress
Charlotte matched her mother courtside in a Guess Girls navy-blue chiffon polka-dot dress, finished with pink Ray-Ban sunglasses and ivory ballet flats. 2025 — Custom Sarah Burton for Givenchy Dress
For 2025, Charlotte wore a custom Sarah Burton for Givenchy dress — ivory with black ruffle trim at the bodice — making her one of the youngest royals confirmed in a couture house piece. It’s a fitting credit: Burton designed Kate’s wedding dress in 2011 and became Givenchy’s creative director in 2024. The royal family’s relationship with Wimbledon fashion goes back further than any Instagram era.
Queen Elizabeth II, 1957 — Her first Wimbledon appearance as monarch set the template: a midi-length dress with a cinched waist and full Fifties skirt, presenting the trophy to Althea Gibson.
Princess Diana, 1980s–90s — Diana practically invented the “royal mum at Wimbledon” moment, often with a young Prince William at her side. In 1991, a nine-year-old William joined her for his first Wimbledon match — Diana in a purple look with peplum detailing, William in a smart navy blazer and tie. By 1994, post-separation, her style had sharpened: a red shirt dress with gold buttons by British designer Tomasz Starzewski, worn to the men’s final.
Full circle, 2024 — Kate and Charlotte unknowingly recreated one of the most famous images in royal Wimbledon history: Diana and William standing to applaud in the Royal Box in 1991.
