About the Designer – Agatha Ruiz de la Prada
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada started her fashion career in 1980 as an assistant to the top designer of the “Movida madrileña”, one of the most important cultural and liberal movements of 20th century democratic Spain. In this special environment, Agatha Ruíz de la Prada developed her skills as a designer and became a mail player in this ground-breaking movement.
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada has always managed to stay away from the trends of the main international catwalks. This has enabled her to design her own global language, a true uprising against the establishment. Her design reflects a point of view full of love, humor, and optimism, with extraordinary colors and shapes as a foundation for this world she has created.
“When fashion is inspired by art. I always wanted to be a painter. Since I was a girl. But I realized that after Picasso, Miró, Tapiés,… there wasn’t much left to do.” Agatha Ruíz de la Prada knew from the outset that her vocation was to create art and fashion in a single concept.
