Monsoon Kids Clothes was founded in 1973 by Peter Simon who returned home having traveled extensively through exotic lands, with a vision inspired by treasured eastern craft traditions, vivid colors and rich fabrics. For four decades, Monsoon designers have followed in his footsteps to the far corners of the world, celebrating global culture and fashion that speaks to those who dress with a sense of adventure.
Back in 1973 Monsoon started life in a small, independent store in London’s Beauchamp Place after Peter Simon, the founder of the company, completed an epic road trip around Asia. These early collections were inspired by clothes made in Indian villages using vegetable dyes, hand-loomed cotton, and block printing.
As large as Monsoon becomes with 100s of stores worldwide they remain committed to hand-crafted bohemian roots. You’ll find beautiful hand embroidery and embellishment that give many of products that unique Monsoon look and feel.
Today, Monsoon’s hand-crafted tradition is show-cased in beautiful heritage collections and they continue to support artisan communities in India through the Monsoon Trust Boutique. Profits from collections are donated to the Monsoon Accessorize Trust to help improve the lives of over 10,000 women and children in Asia every year.
Monsoon continues to look for ways to put sustainability at the heart of their business and to support artisan communities in India and beyond.
This year we celebrate our 40th year anniversary. What better milestone to champion everything we love about our label, from our travelers’ routes and celebrated style to our feel-good spirit and hand-crafted techniques. Celebrated 40 years in fashion by joining us on our journey through 40 years of inspiration.
