Naartjie Kids

Naartjie kids clothes began in 1989 as a local brand sold on craft markets before opening the first store in the Capetown waterfront. This led to exposure to visitors from all over the globe and it wasn’t long before famous names, including late Princess Di and her sister-in-law Fergie, were dressing their kids in Naartjie. The award-winning Naartjie team creates and deliver distinctive kid-friendly clothes, using 100% natural fabrics that are pre-shrunk and garment-dyed. Naartjie kids clothes bring a unique combination of fashion-forward, casual, and age-appropriate elements.

About the Naartjie Collection

“Naartjie” is an Afrikaans word for “a small, sweet citrus fruit” found in South Africa. The Naartjie Brand is synonymous with a “distinctive, affordable, naturally soft, functional, kid-friendly clothing brand”. Today Naartjie designs manufactures and retails children’s clothing, accessories, and footwear for ages newborn through 10 years old

Naartjie Brand offers a unique approach to designing kids’ clothes with a flavor and style all its own. From its very beginning, Naartjie was about KIDS…who are always playful, vibrant, active, colorful, natural, and changing.

The Naartjie brand can be described as a fusion of bright and colorful fashion-forward elements. It exudes a fun, natural, active, fresh, playful and wholesome perspective of the world. We interpret worldwide trends in our own unique way that results in trend-right kids fashions that appeal to kids of all ages.

The Naartjie story began back in 1989 in Cape Town, South Africa when designer Anne Eales wanted an alternative to the basic brands of her three young boys. The Naartjie brand that Anne created is a successful mix of design elements that make it distinctive, inspirational, and very popular. Most Naartjie clothes are pre-washed and pre-shrunk, made from 100% natural cotton fabrics, always soft and immediately comfortable to wear.

Naartjie clothes are designed in their Cape Town Studio in South Africa, made mostly from natural fabrics that have been garment-dyed, then pre-washed and pre-shrunk for easy care. They also use a garment dying process where the entire garment is dyed after being sewn, giving clothes a soft and complex appeal both visually and to the touch.

I have an update from Naartjie, unfortunately, they are closing their stores in the USA.
