While watching PHILIPP PLEIN’s FW14-15 Men’s runway show at Milan Men’s Fashion Week this Sunday, I was inspired to learn more about the designer Phillip Plein and PHILIPP PLEIN Petite, his junior collection for girls and boys.
German-born fashion designer Philipp Plein launched his brand PHILIPP PLEIN in 2004 whose signature symbol is his famous laughing skull. PHILIPP PLEIN has quickly grown to become a leading international Swiss-based fashion house for men, women, kids, home, pets, accessories, luggage and more.
PHILIPP PLEIN’s newly launched FW14-15 Men’s collection, the “Noir Cowboy”, featured fashion-forward cowboys dressed in their favorite color black, both shiny and matte materials. Symbols included crossed six-shooters and the time-honored “Buffalo skull”. The runway show featured the beautiful Native/African American and rap star Angel Haze.
At Pitti Bimbo last January the new PHILIPP PLEIN Petite collection for boys and girls aged 4 to 16 was featured on the catwalk. Paying special attention to detail and to the origin of each piece, PHILIPP PLEIN applies a small tri-color flag to each item, emphasizing its authenticity and the high quality of strictly Italian production.
“Fashion is all about playing, having fun, being brave enough to experiment and not taking oneself too seriously. It is about making room for that freedom and carefreeness that we only enjoy in our dreams. For adults and children alike.” – Philipp Plein.
The PHILIPP PLEIN Petite boys’ collection features carefully crafted little masterpieces that evoke the Homme collection mood. Described as “Play at being grown-up whilst enjoying the fact of being young”, the boy’s collection is inspired by the great maritime tradition, with hip-hop and neo-punk aspects.
