Zara offers the latest trends in international fashion in an environment of thought-out design. Its stores, located in cities across Europe, America and Asia, offer fashion inspired by today’s tastes, wishes and lifestyles.
There’s a story behind the Zara name. The first Zara store was opened in 1975 in a central street in downtown La Coruña, Galicia, Spain by Amancio Ortega. The store was originally named Zorba by Ortega after the classic film “Zorba the Greek.” However two blocks away there was a bar named Zorba whose owner claimed it would be confusing to have two Zorbas. The molds for the letters in the sign were already arranged so they just rearranged them to see what they could find, and they found Zara.
