This was a good edition of Pitti Bimbo. I discovered this for myself as I went around the stands and spoke to buyers and exhibitors. The attendance figures reflect the results seen a week ago at Pitti Uomo. The foreign markets – some of which are expanding rapidly, with excellent performances from the more established markets, as well as those which have only just begun to enter the world of quality fashion – appear particularly lively and are acting as a driving force for Italian companies whilst the domestic panorama continues to suffer due to low internal consumption, as well as the intense restructuring of the retail industry that has been going on for several seasons. However, all the most important Italian stores were still there as were the boutiques and top international department stores. There was also a packed program of events, catwalk shows and special initiatives that flanked and enriched the presentation of new collections, making Pitti Bimbo a truly unique experience. – Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine.
