One of my favorite girls’ brands from the Netherlands is Mim-P by Eleonora Eleonora Nieuwenhuizen who celebrated 10 years since she launched her wonderful brand. Each season Mim-Pi offers a fresh colorful and playful collection perfect for little girls who love to imagine.
The story behind Mim-Pi began back when Eleonora went on an adventure backpacking through the far east after completing her college degree. During her travels, Eleonora discovered gorgeous fashion and jewelry that she brought back to the Netherlands. Eleonora continued to discover fabric outlets and factories in the Far East where beautiful embroideries were made. Before she knew it she had three stores, selling women’s fashion.
Once Eleonora had her own daughter she was inspired to create Mim-Pi offering girls to be able to wear funky, fun and whimsical clothes that they love.
It is important to make statements with clothing. Besides wanting to make girls feel like princesses in their own fairy tale, I also don’t shy away from corky or funky. I mean, every girl – big or small – has days that feel like dress-up days and days that call for comfortable baggy pants and a stretchy T-shirt.
What Inspires Eleonora for Mim-Pi Collections?
Inspiration for my collections come from everything and anything; the circus, gypsies, Bambi or retro. When an image or idea sticks with me, I go with it. I flip through magazines, search the web endlessly and collect all kinds of objects that catch my eye. From postcards to ribbons to antique jewelry. I often say the eye needs to travel and I mean this in the broadest sense possible. The eye needs to travel to foreign countries, but it also needs to be able to shift perspective and see the unexpected.
Mim-Pi Poetry Collection
For Fall Winter 2014 Mim-Pi has created the Poetry&Pussycats Collections. Delightful tricots, huggable knits, sky blue and neon orange the collection. You’ll find lots of details from polka dot, brightly colored knits, tulle, and fun pompoms.
The inspiration for Mim-Pi’s Fall-Winter 2014-2015 collection were knits and crochets. The trend of knit-café’s and crochet workshops inspired me. I was also inspired by the kitty cat trend I spotted in London. I weaved these furry cats through the collection. I even designed a hoodie dress with cat ears on top!
